No, wood is a natural material; every tree is one of a kind. Our boards have natural beauty and each one is different and has unique grain and color. It will be not identical, but similar. If you are not happy with your board, please check our return policy.
Yes! All our boards are reversible.
An End Grain Cutting board is a board, wherein the wood grains are perpendicular to the cutting surface, and not parallel as in ordinary cutting boards. End Grain teak boards are formed by little pieces glued together to construct an elegant and amazing pattern. The end grain wood fibers absorb the impact of the knife blade while chopping, allowing your knife to stay sharper and your board surfaces to stay smoother.
Edge grain boards are cut with the grain’s edge so the wood fibers are aligned horizontally. This is the most common construction for wood cutting boards and is known for its durability, less water absorption and softer for the knife’s blade.
According to a scientific study on Plastic and Wooden Chopping Boards, conducted by Dean O. Cliver, Ph. D, it transpired that wooden cutting boards are, in fact, hygienic since certain types of wood do seem to exhibit antibacterial properties, while plastic boards have been scientifically proven to harbor bacteria inside the cut grooves.
For us, the most important facet is sustainability. More than ever, we are living in a generation where we are very cautious about the food we eat and the environment. We believe the tools we use to prepare our food should follow the same mindful guidelines. We support zero-plastic initiatives.
And at last, teakwood cutting boards are known to be knife-friendly and they will keep your knives sharp.
Yes! We do not use any harmful chemicals or synthetic glazes to coat our boards.
Yes, all our boards are pre-finished with a mix of Mineral oil and beeswax. Our Boards are ready-to-use; before using for the first time wash it with warm soapy water, rinse off dry with a kitchen towel.
Yes! Sometimes Teak could look a bit orange, but with some oil, sun and use, these colors will turn into a golden brown color.
Yes! Teakwood has antibacterial properties, i.e. THEY DO NOT harbor bacteria. Nevertheless, for functionality and an easy cooking experience we recommended the habit of use different cutting boards to food prep. For example, use one for raw meat, and another for vegetables.

Why Vietnam?
Many of the best manufacturers of high-performance wood products are located overseas. We know… we looked. The United States has bigger sources and great maple, and walnut products and Vietnam has one of the biggest manufacturers cluster of Premium tropical wood products. This country trade thousands of products to the USA such as decks, furniture and kitchen tools.
Once we found our FSC certified manufacturer, we knew it was a match with our vision of zero wood waste. Quality is everything to us, and we wanted to make sure we gave you the best sustainable product at the best price that you could find.

Care & Maintenance Information
Our boards are pre-oiled and ready to use. Before first use, wash, rinse, and dry with a kitchen towel. We use a mixture of mineral oil and natural beeswax to coat. However, we recommend you apply Teakhaus oil or mineral oil regularly.
Keep your Teakhaus cutting board sanitized by simply washing it! Wash your cutting board after every use.
a. Hand wash with hot, soapy water after each use.
b. Rinse.
c. Dry it with a kitchen towel, or better yet, let it air dry.
d. Store it only when it is completely dry or display it on the counter.
e. Do not put it in a dishwasher and do not soak it in water.
Wood is a natural material and tends to expand and contract. Too much moisture can cause cracks and splits. We recommend you don't store the board until it is completely dry.
A teak cutting board rarely absorbs odors or stains. Yet, it can happen! Only three natural ingredients are needed to remove odors or stains: lemon, salt, and baking soda.
1. Cut a lemon and rub it on the cutting board.
2. Sprinkle the board generously with kosher or table salt, or baking soda (the salt or baking soda will absorb any odors, flavors, and stains).
3. Build a paste over the board by rubbing the lemon and squeezing the juice.
4. Let it dry for a few hours.
5. Remove the dry paste with a spatula or your hands.
6. Wash, rinse, and dry the board, and be sure to oil it afterward.
Teak's naturally high oil content acts as a water repellent; this oil will keep your board hydrated for longer periods of time. Oiling twice a month will keep your board healthy.
1. Only use Teakhaus maintenance products. You can also use your favorite mineral oil or seasoning stick for the same results.
2. Let the oil absorb for at least six hours; for better results, let it sit overnight.
3. Wipe off any remaining oil using a dry, clean cloth.
4. Do not let your board become dry; lack of oiling can result in cracks, warps, or splits.
5. AVOID using any cooking oil (olive oil, canola oil, etc.). These oils can become rancid.
To increase the board life to a lifetime, to avoid cracks or splits, to bring life the fabulous colors, and to keep safe from any bacteria.
It is perfectly normal! Teakwood is a medium-hardwood. The hardness of wood is related to durability and stability. Teak's hardness is not too soft to provide a luxurious cutting experience and not too hard to keep your knives sharp. You can't avoid knife marks, but you can repair them once in a while. We recommend sanding your cutting board when the marks are deep.
You could start with medium-coarse grit sandpaper (100) and finish with fine-coarse grit, wash, and oil your board, and it will look new again.
