Beautiful, Nice Size, Well Made

First of all, the board I received is beautiful, with a nice smoothly finished surface all around, except for one very small, almost unnoticeable 1/4" nick under one of the handles. So, it's not perfect, but it's no where near the cutting area, and it certainly wasn't worth even considering returning, especially when everything else about the board is so fantastic.Of course the board comes completely naked, with no finish, so it's imperative that you apply a mineral oil finish BEFORE you use it. I used Howard BBC012 Butcher Block Conditioner, and as soon as I began rubbing it in, the wood's grain came alive. It's very important to heat up your mineral oil. The Howard's conditioner (which also contains bees wax) was more gel like when it arrived, and it needed to be heated to the point that it finally became liquid, and that's when it really began soaking deep into the wood. I applied 2 coats the day the board arrived, letting it sit overnight, then applied a 3rd coat the next day. The way it makes the grain shine is amazing, and the bees wax helps provide a moisture barrier for the wood. It's funny, I had thought this 18x14 board might be too large for my tiny kitchen, and had considered the 16x12 board, but this one is absolutely the perfect size. I had also considered some of the 2" thick boards, but again, this 3/4" thick board is perfect. It has enough heft to not move at all during cutting, but it's still relatively easy to maneuver for cleaning in the sink. By the way, it's important to NOT let these soak in water when cleaning, and to always dry them before putting away. Simply clean with soap and water, then quickly dry with a towel.I use this primarily for chopping veggies for my evening salad, and I can't imagine anything more suited for that purpose than this board. I'll report back in 6 months or a year, but for now, I'm a happy camper.

Great board but need to be oiled

Very nice broad. It's my first time using a teak cutting board and it felt great! This is not too heavy but still durable to light cutting/slicing - I don't plan to chop big bones with this.Be aware that this needs to be oiled. It looked very dry when it arrived. It looked great after I brushed it with mineral oil and let it dry for a day.

Top rate fit and finish, attractive, perfect for high quality knives

My new favorite cutting board. I replaced two bamboo cutting boards that were constantly dulling my Nafzger and Tojiro knives and relegated them to use as oversized trivets. The fit and finish of the Teakhaus board is top notch - no complaints. Bamboo is very hard and the striations on the wood grain are tough on knife blades. Bamboo boards are find for use with a meat cleaver but not for top end cutlery. The teak board I got was exactly as pictured and the dimensions are spot on. The groove is cut about halfway into the board which is 3/4" thick. I read some of the 1 star reviews about these boards warping and I have a suspicion that some or all of these folks put the board in the dishwasher which you absolutely should NOT do. You should also oil BOTH sides of the board monthly or more often if it's hand washed frequently. I use mineral oil because it's non-toxic, cheap and won't oxidize like olive or canola oil.I've had this board a few weeks and use it daily. I oiled it on arrival and let is soak in the oil overnight and then wiped dry with a paper towel. The boards gets hand washed in lukewarm water with dish soap and rinsed clean and then dried. If I have any issues in the future, I'll report back

Looks Like A Quality Cutting Board

TeakHaus was written up as having quality cutting boards. Prices from any company made me cringe. Still costly but much better price I got this board. It is a really good size , for the price, which I wasn’t expecting. I am replacing a lot of items in my kitchen due to health concerns using them. Going from plastic to wood is one change. It is a very attractive, quality looking product. I expect if taken care of it will last a very long time.
